The School of Ecology San Jose was originated in 1996, when the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala, approved his creation by means of the Decree 96-96 ¨Law for the Scientific Formation of Human Resource for the Conservation and the Sustainable Development of the Humid Tropical Regions¨, where in its article 1º created the related school.  It has his foundation in article 97 of the Political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala.

The EESJ, it at the moment works under the auspices of the Cultural and Educative Patronage of Guatemala and the Municipal Government of San Jose, Petén.

Vision

To be an institution leader in the study of methods and systems for the sustainable handling of the natural and tourist resources of the tropical and subtropical regions of the world.

Mission

To be an institution dedicated to the permanent study of methods and systems for the sustainable handling of the natural and tourist resources of the tropical and subtropical regions.

Objective of Development

To contribute to elevate the income and the quality of life of the inhabitants of the tropical and subtropical regions.

Specific Objective

To contribute to reach the sustainability in the handling of the natural and tourist resources of the tropical and subtropical regions.

Justification

The problematic one to approach and the strategy of the project. The problem to approach, is transformed in the hypothesis of following work: “The loss of the income and the quality of life of the inhabitants of the tropical and subtropical regions; it is because most of its settlers it does not know the sustainable form to take advantage of the natural and tourist resources the same ones, to the date.

In order to contribute to solve the problematic one, the project has like strategy the formation and qualification of originating human resource, mainly of the tropical and subtropical regions of the world, for the technical handling of the natural and tourist resources of such regions.
